Any type of accusation or criminal case can be defended, as long as there is a skilled nurse attorney ready to assist you during the hearing before the Board of Nursing. The Texas Board of Nursing has full jurisdiction regarding any cases that may affect an RN or LVN’s license from suspension, disciplinary action, or revocation.
On or about September 3, 2019, September 9, 2019, and September 10, 2019, while enrolled as a Nurse Practitioner Student in a university in Texas, the RN submitted clinical hour logs to the university of hours completed at a hospital under the name of a nurse practitioner who was not her preceptor and did not supervise her. Her conduct resulted in inaccurate clinical logs.
During the hearing, the RN states that she was assigned a preceptor at the clinic, but when she showed up for her first day, she was told by the office administrator that the preceptor was unavailable and that she would work with a different nurse preceptor instead. She states by the third day when she arrived and was told that the originally assigned preceptor was still not there, the RN realized that the preceptor unavailability was a problem and she sought another preceptor elsewhere. She states that the inaccurate clinical logs were not calculated to deceive the school regarding her qualifications, rather, they were the result of the clinic’s internal logistics.
However, without valid reason and defense to properly explain the RN’s side, the RN was disciplined and suspended by the Texas Board of Nursing.
The accusation would have been defended by an experienced and skilled nurse attorney, had the RN hired one. Hiring a nurse attorney for defense is applicable for any kind of accusation laid against an RN or LVN.
