Your license is one of LVN’s most valuable assets. You need to protect your license as well as your right to practice as best as you can. In doing so, Fort Worth lawyers are the one to depend on.
If you are summoned to appear before a licensing board regarding a disciplinary incident, you will need an experienced nurse attorney who knows how to handle nurse cases.
At the time of the initial incident, the RN was employed in a medical facility in Fort Worth Texas, and had been in that position for two months.
On or about March 7, 2018, the RN misappropriated sixty tablets of Hydromorphone belonging to a patient or failed to take precautions to prevent such misappropriation in that she took a card of Hydromorphone and the count sheet during an audit and reported to another nurse the patient had too many cards. Her conduct was likely to defraud the facility and patients thereof of the cost of the medications.
On or about March 13, 2018, the RN misappropriated Hydromorphone belonging to a patient or failed to take precautions to prevent such misappropriation in that she took a blister pack of hydromorphone and told another nurse she would return the medication, however, she did not return the medication. Her conduct was likely to defraud the facility and patients thereof of the cost of the medications.
On or about March 15, 2018, the RN misappropriated six tablets of Hydromorphone belonging to a patient or failed to take precautions to prevent such misappropriation in that she took a blister pack of Hydromorphone and count sheet during an audit and later returned the blister pack and reported to another nurse she removed six tablets because she spilled water on them. The RN did not obtain a witness signature for the waste. Her conduct was likely to defraud the facility and patients thereof of the cost of the medications and Respondent’s conduct violated the minimum standards regarding wastage of medications.
The Texas Board of Nursing took action to the case, summoning the RN to defend against the accusation. During the hearing, the RN denies misappropriation, however, she admits her paperwork and procedures were sloppy. She states she removed the medications during audits and placed the medications in a locked cabinet that held the unused, expired, and returned narcotics. She states she frequently did narcotic audits due to allegations and rumors of narcotic misappropriation at the facility.
The RN also admits to failing to sign for the six pills she spilled water on.
The Texas Board of Nursing has full jurisdiction over all cases that may affect the RN license. The strictness of the Board also ensures that nurses will only commit to the duties they are assigned to in order to guarantee accurate and excellent performance in all hospitals throughout the state of Texas.
As a result, the Texas Board of Nursing decided to sentence her RN license to disciplinary action to ensure that she will never commit such acts again.
The case would have yielded a different result if the RN was able to hire Fort Worth lawyers. So if you also have the same cases or concerns, it’s best to contact Nurse Attorney Yong J. An for further details. You may contact him at (832) 428-5679 to get a schedule for confidential consultation.
