A nurse attorney is someone who can help if someone filed a case against you. Unfortunately, not all nurses were able to hire a nurse attorney as they underwent such cases. This incident that an RN committed in August 2019 was one of those examples.

At the time of the initial incident, an RN was employed as a Registered Nurse at a hospital in Dallas, Texas, and had been in that position for three (3) months.

An incident happened on or about August 20, 2019, through August 21, 2019, when the RN withdrew
Hydrocodone patient medical record number L00581275630, but failed to follow the facility’s policy and procedure for wastage of the unused portions of the medications. The RN’s conduct left medications unaccounted for, was likely to deceive the hospital pharmacy, and placed the pharmacy in violation of Chapter 481 (Controlled Substances Act) of the Texas Health and Safety Code.

Then on or about August 20, 2019, through August 21, 2019, the RN misappropriated two (2) tablets of Hydrocodone 10/325mg belonging to the hospital and patients thereof or failed to take precautions to prevent such misappropriation. The RN’s conduct was likely to defraud the facility and patients, thereof, of the cost of the medications, and is a violation of Chapter 481 (Controlled Substances Act) of the Texas Health and Safety Code.

In regards to the incident, the RN denies allegations of misappropriating medications. However, without the proper help from a good defense nurse attorney, the RN will lose the case and will be disciplined by the Texas Board of Nursing and suspended and even worst, the license will be revoked. The accusation would have been defended by an experienced and skilled nurse attorney if the RN had hired one. Hiring a nurse attorney for defense is applicable for any kind of accusation laid against an RN or LVN.
