It’s best to seek the help of a nurse attorney when facing different complaints and allegations. However, some nurses tend to face these results instead without thinking that nurse attorneys are always reliable for matters such as these.

On or about August 2006, an RN from Austin, Texas inappropriately provided her eight clinical nursing students with her confidential, faculty access code an online network which allowed students unauthorized access to confidential medical records. Her conduct unnecessarily exposed patients to unauthorized use and dissemination of their confidential medical information.

The Texas Board of Nursing sent a letter to the RN regarding the issue so then she can have the chance to defend herself.

In response to the incidents, the RN states that her faculty access code was restricted and allowed students to access the same pieces of information for their patients, such as medications and labs that were also available on the charts. According to the RN, the charts were not available to students while they were being reviewed by physicians or case managers, and she rationalized the decision as being a viable option to assist students in caring for their patients.

However, she was not able to provide a good defense for herself. Therefore, the Board placed her RN license to a disciplinary action instead.
