Cases involving improper medical administration or negligence have been a signature specialty of a criminal Amarillo nurse attorney when handling cases for some nurses. However, some nurses tend to forget this fact because they really felt like they should be responsible even if they never intended to commit such an error. L100462N2528

On or about October 13, 2006, while employed as LVN in a medical facility in Amarillo, the LVN failed to ensure that the double-check for the administration of Lovenox to a patient was completed, as required, and falsely documented in the medical record another employee’s hospital number to indicate that the employee had witnessed the double-check, without the employee’s knowledge or authorization.

Her conduct resulted in an inaccurate medical record and unnecessarily exposed the patient to potential side effects related to an incorrect dosage of Lovenox.

On or about November 6, 2006, the LVN again failed to ensure that the double-check for the administration of Lovenox to a patient was completed, as required, and falsely documented in the medical record another employee’s hospital number to indicated that the employee had witnessed the double-check, without the employee’s knowledge or authorization. Her conduct unnecessarily resulted in an inaccurate medical record and exposed the patient to potential side effects related to an incorrect dosage of Lovenox.

In response, the LVN states that she did use her colleague’s number, but indicates that the nurses had willingly exchanged numbers to use in that manner. She states that she now realizes how serious her actions were and that she is grateful that no patient was harmed.

As a result, the Texas Board of Nursing placed her LVN license to disciplinary action. It’s too bad that she failed to hire an Amarillo nurse attorney for assistance if she had every reason to defend herself in the first place. Her defense would have gotten better if she actually sought legal consultation from a Texas nurse attorney as well.

So if you’re facing a complaint from the Board, it’s best to seek legal advice first. Yong J.
