Losing your license may greatly affect your future career, but only if you failed to hire a nurse attorney for the case. There are some RNs and LVNs who missed their chances to get their license saved from suspension or revocation just because they weren’t able to hire any nurse attorney to defend them. Unfortunately, this LVN from Frisco, Texas happens to be one of them.

At the time of the initial incident, an LVN was employed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) at a hospital in Frisco, Texas, and had been in that position for ten (10) months.

On or about February 8, 2019, while employed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), the LVN failed to check the blood pressure and pulse of a patient at 0800, as scheduled and as ordered by the physician, and/or the LVN failed to document the patient’s blood pressure and pulse. Additionally, the LVN failed to administer Losartan to the patient, as ordered, and/or failed to document that she administered the Losartan in the patient’s medication administration record (MAR). The LVN’s conduct was likely to injure the patient from undetected changes in blood pressure, may have resulted in non-efficacious treatment, and/or created an incomplete medical record.

On or about February 1 8, 2019, through February 19, 2019, the LVN failed to administer multiple scheduled medications to sixteen (16) patients, as ordered by the physician, and/or failed to document that she administered the medications in the patients’ medication administration records (MARs). The LVN’s conduct may have resulted in non-efficacious treatment, and/or created incomplete medical records.

In response to Findings of Fact Numbers Seven (7) through Nine (9), Respondent denies that she failed to administer all scheduled medications to the patients, and denies that she failed to check the blood pressures and pulses of the patients. Respondent admits she failed to complete her documentation because she did not have enough time.

Unfortunately, with the lack of an effective nurse attorney to defend her case, the Texas Board of Nursing decided to take action and discipline the LVN due to the misconduct that she committed.
